Oxford Concert Party

One of the most entertaining, mould-breaking groups around

1992 - 2012: The First 20 years!

2012 is a significant year for many reasons, not least (as far as we are concerned) that we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary!

During the past 20 years, we have played in concert halls, village halls, prison chapels, a prison courtyard, detention centres, day care centres, residential homes, school halls, churches and assorted other venues.

We have played for entertainment, for therapy and always for fun. We have seen people with Alzehimers' find their voices (sometimes literally), prisoners find some hope for rehabilitation and school children find bonds with older people.

During the next year, there will be events and promotions to celebrate this special anniversary, so check out our News page every month for the latest information.

Take three hundred years of music from around the world, turn it upside down, infuse it with humour, energy, passion and pathos - and you have the recipe with which the Oxford Concert Party, described as "one of the most entertaining, mould-breaking groups around" (Oxford Times) charms and delights their audience wherever they go. Be it Vivaldi or Piazzolla, French café music or Argentinian tango, Irish laments or Finnish polkas, this "bunch of superb musicians" (Daily Telegraph) create a rich, colourful and expressive sound, and their vibrant virtuosity, zany and offbeat humour make theirs an unforgettable performance.

The Oxford Concert Party tours and performs nationally and also undertakes extensive community concerts and workshops and aiming to make music accessible to all. With passion and energy, humour and sensitivity we take our listeners on a journey which transforms, heals and humanises, especially those imprisoned by isolation, disability, illness or walls. For the last 18 years, the Oxford Concert Party has delivered community music to disadvantaged people and isolated communities across the county. Each year we aim to deliver concerts and workshops in residential homes for the elderly or sufferers with Alzheimer's, in community centres to people with special needs, in isolated village halls and to many primary schools and prisons across the country.

Check out our diary page for details of our next public concerts and our news page for our latest community projects.
